Sabziwaali (Sabzi = Vegetable; Waali = Woman), a term in different varaitions used in many languages in India to refer to a female vegetable monger.

Hi! I’m Meghna, living in Seattle with my heart in India. I grew up in a large family where the conversations mostly revolved around food. Having a multi-cultural background got me to experience countless delicious culinary treats.

I moved to the United States in 2015 to get a master's in Computer Science. Back then, cooking for me was more of a necessity than an interest. I managed to learn how to cook some of the basics but that wasn't enough to satisfy my craving. I would go to Indian restaurants near my university hoping to feel like I'm back at home, but I never felt quite there. All this made me realize how much I appreciated a good home cooked meal. I started by cooking the most simple combination that every Indian most enjoys, rice with dal. My roommates, and friends all enjoyed the simplicity and warmth of this dish. This encouraged me and set me on the path to become a cook.

Now, I try to find home in whatever I cook and that is what I want my food to translate into for everybody else.
